About

Born and raised in Arizona, USA

I was one of the lucky ones—whenever an adult asked me, “What do you want to be?” I always knew the answer. I said, “No matter what I do, I know I will eventually become a teacher.”

I was raised in a small mountain town called Show Low. We spent the summers at the lake, and the winters fighting with snowballs. Most people don’t think Arizona is a snowy place, but most people probably haven’t been to Show Low.

Despite my small mountain town origins, I’ve always been destined for an international life.

In college, I studied abroad in Heidelberg, Germany. I was originally supposed to stay for just one semester. There was this old V.W. Bug that would drive around the city—”Ich habe mein Hertz in Heidelberg verloren.” I ended up staying for a year and half, learning more German while washing dishes in the back of Cafe Extrablatt than from most of my Second Language classes.

I wonder if that car still drives around the Altstadt.

Now, I find myself with a wife and baby in South Korea. My daughter is half-Korean, half-American, my wife is lovely, and I’m looking to join the place that makes the most sense for me: a well established International School that aligns with my values, my passions, and my future.
